Catholic prayer and resources, built to be used and given freely.
Project Liturgy started because the texts of the Church, the real ones, the ones prayed for centuries, shouldn't be locked behind a price tag or a language barrier. The Breviary Project came first: a way to actually pray the full 1954 Breviary in Latin and English side by side, without paying hundreds of dollars for out-of-print volumes.
OCIA came next, for a different reason. Becoming Catholic can feel like walking into a conversation that's already been going on for two thousand years. This site exists so that conversation has a plain-language door in.
These resources are built by one person, checked against real sources, and given away for free. If you'd like to help keep this work going, you can support Project Liturgy. No pressure, just keeping the lights on.
The way the Church prays it today, and the way it was prayed for centuries before.
The Office the Church prays now. New to it? Start here: what each Hour is, where we are in the year, and where to pray it.
Pray the Hours →The 1954 Divino Afflatu Roman Breviary, Latin and English side by side — four volumes of prayer text in parallel, with its own calendar and the Common of Saints.
Open the Breviary →A plain-language guide to the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, built for the curious newcomer who has never set foot in a Catholic church before.
Open OCIA →Nervous about Confession, or been away a while? This walks you through it step by step, examination of conscience included.
Open the guide →Take a moment to pray for one another, or leave an intention of your own.
Hello everyone, John here, the creator of Project Liturgy. I just want to be open and honest about the costs of running this site. Between hosting and the tools I use, it costs roughly $60 a month.
As much as I dislike asking, a donation of any amount would help keep this running. My dream is to build a ministry that helps people, however that takes shape. I believe Project Liturgy has the potential to reach thousands of people, and your support can help me get there.
In the future, I plan to build my own server to host everything myself, with the goal of lowering hosting costs and giving the project a home of its own.
You can use the site's Venmo below if you'd like to donate. Again, thank you everyone for your support!
